Holding a general election soon would be an irresponsible move, says Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

He said the recent increase in Covid-19 hospitalisations, coupled with the emergence of the new variant, meant that it would not be a good idea to hold the 15th General Election soon.

UMNO is looking for BIG WIN strategy. If GE is organised soonest, firstly the 18 yrs old voters can’t vote. Secondly, voters who work in town won’t go back to vote due to fear of Covid 19. So much so, only old folks in Kampung will vote n had been proven these voters r loyal UMNO supporters.

(2) A win coward strategy of UMNO.

I don't like this ruling coalition. I would love to have a proper population-mandated govt in power. But having a general election anytime soon would probably be a bad idea just as we are recovering from this COVID pandemic. Having millions of eligible voters moving around on election day and god knows how many campaign-related gatherings before that would most likely make things worse.
