1953 Gibson Les Paul played by Joey Landreth

This early '53 Goldtop still has the original trapeze style tailpiece with two punchy but incredibly express P-90 pickups. This second year Les Paul is in great shape with very little play wear. Joey Landreth makes this 63+ year old guitar sing with his signature playing style.

We plugged this guitar into a 1962 Fender Deluxe. The amp was close mic'd Cascade Fat Head BE. The room was mic'd with a Zoom H6N.

Tone for days!!!! P90’s have the most delicious crunch!

Nice play! I like single coil the most. In case of LP I prefer humbucker. But this is stunning.

Any pedals in the chain? Or you crank it to get the drive? Sounds great!

Amazing tone. Was he playing through a pedal board or do these old Fender amps distort natural like this?

Stupid question, but are these Les Paul Standards? Or is it straight up just called a Gibson Les Paul?
Thanks

That’s looks like a 52 goldtop not a 53 but either way it’s a great guitar 🎸
