If there was going to be a new state, what do you think it would be?

Mr Terry the Arab flag colors actually represent different dynasties. Black is Abbasid, White is Umuyaad, green is Fatimid and Red is Hashemite

16:50 Little Egypt would probably have had its capitol in their city of Cairo (which "has seen better days", as they say).

About lightning strikes changing history, one of the Roman Emperors, Carus, was struck by one when he just invaded Persia, he's not well known as he was one of the crisis of the third century emperors, also according to Roman myth king Tullius Hostilius was struck by lightning as punishment from Jupiter for forgetting about his religious duties.

Rich people have beach houses. Rich people have tennis courts. That’s why they’re on the coasts.

I remember seeing that 124 US State Map so long ago. It's one of the first maps I saw that made me realize how complicated and interesting history and more specifically, American History actually is. It was made by a geography professor named Andrew Shears. He did have a website where the map was originally uploaded and provided details on where the proposals first came from. Unfortunately the site itself no longer exists.

The ruble is tricky. It IS one of the longest-used currencies still around today, depending on what you consider a currency. It has been around since at least the reign of Peter the Great (early 1700s) and depending on your definition possibly 300 or more years earlier, but the states using the ruble as currency have changed. I’m guessing that’s with the ruble didn’t make the list - while it’s been around for a long time now, there was a break in continuity due to the establishment of the USSR. Yes, the ruble was being used then too, but technically the countries using the ruble now only gained their independence in 1991 following the dissolution of the USSR so they’ve only been using it for a bit over 3 decades. As a side note, the term ruble was in use before it became a physical unit of currency but it was more of a unit of weight used in trade. If I remember right (by no means certain!) the earliest use of ruble was more along the lines of “worth one ruble of (gold, silver, etc.)” as a means a valuation with ruble being a unit of weight. This was later adapted to the first tangible currency in Imperial Russia.

Little Egypt is in reference to our area having rather fertile land due to being close to two major rivers (Mississippi & Ohio) and thus acts much like the Nile Delta. Also, the area around Carbondale is nicknamed Little Egypt, and we also have places like Lake of Egypt, Macedonia, Cairo, Metropolis, Thebes, Palestine, Lebanon, etc.

So I actually learned a little bit about Little Egypt when I went on my trip for the Solar Eclipse this year.

There's a host of smaller towns and cities there named after old Egyptian cities. E.G. I was in the village of Thebes for the Eclipse.
There's also Cairo (pronounced Kay-roh according to the locals), Metropolis, Karnak, Sparta, Lebanon, and others. Dig around on Google and you'll find them spread around the area.

The nickname originates from the area's floodplains from the Mississippi and Ohio rivers, similar to the nile valley as well as other indigenous pyramidal features.

The region is centered around the southern tip of Illinois right where the MS and OH rivers meet. Cairo for example is situated right at the meeting point of both rivers.

When i was in the navy, one spot on one of my deployments was Suda Bay. We took a liberty bus to Chania, and while there, there was a woman with a few of her kids selling roses. When one of her kids was told no by one of my friends, the kid said "asshole" and walked away. After a few mins, his mom came by with the roses and tried her hand. When she was told no, she had a look of defeat, and walked away.

Best way to avoid the scams that try to sell/force you to buy something… learn how to say “NEVER” in the local language. They’re used to resisting “No, ” but “Never” takes them off guard.

Crescent moon and star are actually Turkish and Turkic symbols that have nothing to do with any religion. Arab countries that use them copied it from Ottomans.

4:22 Australian would be connected like that because Chinese companies/businessmen have heavily invested in Australia. I believe in farming and realestate in particular.

The Cuban Peso was pegged to the Dollar one for one before Castro. We had coin equivalents to US coins too.
