Interesting tactic from Ma Long to turn around his bat. Knowing how Ma Long prepares for his matches, he probably practiced this beforehand because he knew he might need it.

He knew he didn’t want to go into backhand exchanges with Liang and needed to finish the points early. So he swapped his bat so he could slow down those backhand exchanges and gain more speed on the forehand to finish the points sooner.

I guess the red side had more bounce and the black side had more spin and less bounce. Switched positions to increase control on the backhand.
Honestly, after the first round I thought there would be no game. But in the end they showed an equal fight. Good match.
