A Repeat of The Past? [Legacy Prowl Review]

In this review, we praise our Lord and Savior, Prowl Christ, and we find out if Hasbro has learned anything since last year.

I can't believe we got a Legacy Tarn and a Legacy Prowl in the same year!

Legacy is really shaping up to be a really tantalizing line for me. Not that I wasn't already all in on this series, but even moreso now that its releasing some of my favorite and wish list characters.

Video stuff. So like I always say, I'm constantly working to get more videos out more often. I work a lot, but I'm trying to make more dedicated time to write. And I did a lot of filming ahead of time for this one, so it was a lot easier to cut together and I only had to film a few extra things that I forgot.

I'm trying to keep trucking along, cause ideally I'd be able to make a video once a week, though of course I don't always have new figures that I have a lot to say about, and my plans change constantly.

But I think I have to learn to suck it up and try to write even when I can't find the words. Its good to practice and sometimes even when I know what I want to say, I can't find the words then, so I think I'm just generally inexperienced as a writer still.

Anyway, I hope you guys like this one, and I'm still trying my best to go once a week. And make sure you check out the second channel!

Hasbro definitely improved on their blocky redesigns of stylised characters since the prime molds. They did Animated Prowl justice, but that being said I'm still holding my enthusiasm until I see how they handle animated Optimus and Bumblebee.

Prowl's Thiccness is not an issue for me tbh, the TFA Lockdown toy imo has it more bad than Prowl like have you seen his hips😬. As for the figure itself, I think it's an exceptional design of what Generations should be. A melting pot that still has it's distinct flavor.
Further note, it's nice for newer fans like myself because I love TFA's designs but I couldn't have them because I didn't even knew of their existence until I was an adult lol and while eBay prices aren't bad per say, I'll definitely take Legacy Animated Prowl. With that out of mind, I hope that animated Jazz can get figure because both Prowl and Jazz are my fav characters from TFA.

But the thing is I REALLY like the new prime stuff while most people don’t feel the characters I do… do I wish they were better? Ehhh kinda but yeah in my opinion Knockout was EXACTLY what I wanted (honestly I’d also like the concept art one that transforms into what looks like a modern Porsche)

Also if you look at Prowl’s concept art you’ll see that the G1-Ified helmet wasn’t always there and he looked more like the animated character…

But the head looked a little… shall I say W I D E so I’m glad they changed it because it would’ve resulted in an unsettling head sculpt

The WORST thing is that the bike wheels won't go round if the shurikens are attached, due to the shuriken blades popping out and getting caught in the wheels.

Legacy Prowl & Skyquake look a lot more recognizable compared to RC, Bulky & KO, captures both the look and the feel of the chara, sadly, Prowl's alt mode be lookin' knobbly, seemingly as a consequence of maintainting the transformation sequence while having a lot more THICCness, those thighs aren't hidden by the wings anymore, on the other hand, face sculpt is good, like what you said, sharper, wider visor might've been nice, and quite glad the gimmicked shuriken were kept, final line, here's to hoping more different designs into the melting pot and truly represent *"Generations"*

At this rate, none of the Animated characters will come out with their corresponding Gargoyles figures from NECA. Not necessarily a big problem. Last thing I need is to have to decide between Brooklyn and Prowl or Lexington and Bumblebee, but having the two teams face off is a diorama I'm working towards.

As for the figure itself, the goal is to be a more accessible alternative than scalpers on Ebay or 3rd party charging 5x-10x the original retail price. Animated's cycle bots (variants of Prowl and Oilslick) were solid figures. I get sizing them up to match the current Generation's scale, but the other changes hardly seemed needed. After Arcee, I don't know if there's enough goodwill to hunt down Prowl. But anything to bring Animated into the fold. Just like Dinobot meeting the other Dinobots, Prowl should hang with the Rescue bots and the Protectobots. Share a cool one with G1 Prowl. Have the Chief chew him out for his lone wolf act and loudly yell 'you're off the case!'.

I feel like if you play with the joints a lil bit you can get the bike mode into more of that sleeker low profile stance that he had in the show, but it’ll probably leave you with a lot more gaps🤷🏻‍♂️

I'm quietly hoping for a Sentinel Prime figure out of Legacy, but I imagine the next animated figure we get will be either Bulkhead or Lockdown.

Since my first experience with the mold was the Elite Guard Prowl release, never being able to get the base deco, my experience with the mold is....not great. And because I have no serious need to get the original, I might be willing to overlook the flaws of the bike mode of this one.
I like this new take to be honest, mostly because they actually help him fit better to actual ninja-ness than the admittedly theme park idea of ninja that the show runs on:
-Thiccer thighs = the bunched up look of the pant sleeves due to their foot wrappings
- Normal Deluxe size rather than his tall stature = ninja were NOT supposed to be anything more than the average Japanese man's height.
- Blockier helmet = Was not a fan at first till I realized it made him look like he was wearing the Samurai Armor helmet, or, more specifically, Yoketron's helmet! Though Beast Hunters Prowl's head is still the better G1-fied recreation of the Animated design.

So, we'll see when mine arrives, and I can sort out how I feel about the original mold vs Legacy
