Vehicle Digital Identity. In January 2021, Mobiliy Opensource Blockchain Initiative (MOBI) published a series of whitepapers pertaining to standards for vehicle digital identity (VID). This publication is the created by a consortium of automotive, blockchain and security professionals from around the world.

The MOBI VID Standards illustrates how a each vehicle should be given a Digital Identification (DID) that acts as a Digital Birth Certificate. This DID will be the vehicles Digital Twin that will follow it through its lifecycle (Digital Thread).

A DID will help prevent odometer fraud, create a more efficient shipping processes, track automobile sales and auto insurance claims.
