I live in Japan, 4WD is pretty common spec for most models of cars.
Nearly every model of kei car can be purchased as 4WD

They were pretty creative at making practical cars. Now we have pretty cars with practicality like this in the back seats.

It's not a weird spec. It's designed Japan in mind. For excample: the engine. They have small engines for insurance and in general don't produce bigger engines. Second thing is there are a lot of mountainous/snowy area's in Japan where road transportation is extremely bad with good roads there. So, while you see it weird spec. It makes total sence in Japan.

I’m surprised the US market doesn’t sell more of these. Ppl here in New York would love them. Chevy sparks, nissan Versa/note, smart cars, etc are extremely high demand here and hard to find. Ppl love them. They park easy and are great for what ppl use cars for here in the city. I can imagine they’d do well other busy urban areas in the US as well. 🤷‍♂️
