Just goes to show you that the car manufacturers don't think outside the box on this one. The fob should be turned off, not constantly emitting a signal that can be intercepted and illegally used.

The fact that this guy calls the person stealing his vehicle “gentleman”. That’s some serious class right there.

Meanwhile the dealer wants to charge me hundreds if dollars to program a replacement fob. Maybe these crooks could just get in to the key replacement biz and earn an honest living.

I love how the victim always calls the thief a gentleman like they some kind of respectable individuals 😂

Thank you for giving a result and not just a story on how thieves steal vehicles. It gives a much needed solution.

Cutting edge technology? I work in the auto industry and have been aware of thieves being able to do this since early 2010s. You can prevent this by buying an anti theft RFD pouch to store your car keys in that blocks the signals from your key fob.

Love how they broke down what you need and how to do this crime..great job

We can already defeat that device, but the car manufacturers don't want to use a simple mechanical key switch anymore.

The law guy says that the device has legitimate use other than stealing cars, but doesn’t say what those uses are.

Technology makes it easier to steal stuff, kinda makes me think that this was purposely done to avail other ways of security or insurance .

People work so hard for the things they have and these people think it’s ok to come along and steal. Lock them up.

I have an OLD Corolla wagon... 1993 and I live in a very SMALL town in the mountains. Nobody wants my car and there's no crime here anyway. Yea! :)

After hearing about this in the year 2016 I took a small cardboard box and covered it inside and out with aluminum foil and that is where my wife and my son and I keep our key fobs including our extra key fobs to our cars. Plus they are at the very back of our house which is the opposite end of our driveway.

See this is exactly why I don't want that mess in my car.

I used to complain mildly about my 2017 that requires a physical key to start it up. Not anymore.

Too bad we can't use cutting-edge technology against thieves, so that every single one of them could be caught & jailed.

Don't call a thief a gentleman. He is merely a man. He does not earn the right to be called a gentleman, as he clearly is not.

I have been warning my family against this kind of car starter since the day it came out. Too easy to steal. The good ol' mechanical key is much harder to mimic

Makes you wonder why we stopped using regular transponder KEYS. You can't send a custom cut brass key over a radio.
