Sometimes, the best ideas are born out of need. So was the case for the Utah-based company, Rustica Hardware. Eight years ago, Kate and Paul Allen simply couldn’t find the right hardware for their indoor barn doors. They searched high and low and finally decided to skip the search and make their own product to meet their specific hardware needs.

Using Paul’s strong artistic ability, the couple created Rustica Hardware out of their garage. Today, the operation continues to grow and expand their product lineup.

The thought that goes into each item offered by Rustica Hardware is evident. From the barn door tracks and handles to the cabinet barn doors and shutters, intricate details are abundant.

To this day, much of the product design can still be attributed to Paul Allen, just like it was close to a decade ago. “Paul is a great artist,” Heaston explained to the House Tipster Media Team. And that’s just what Rustica Hardware provides: art-infused functional products.

For example, take the triangular barn door hardware kit, aptly called Contour. This modern design is softened by curved angles, and the result is a genuine work of art. It’s this attention to detail that sets Rustica Hardware products apart from the crowd.

Heaston is also a fan of these triangular hangers—they’re a favorite of his. Another product that stood out to Heaston and us is the barn doors constructed of reclaimed barn wood. “We use wood reclaimed from barns and fences,” he explained.
