i probably shouldn't be saying this, but I logged almost 700 hours on this game over the years. I still enjoy playing it as much as I did when I first got it.

I cannot recall how steep a learning curve it has, but I can say that whatever it is, it is worth it. I would highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys strategy games. 10/10

Also the Darthmod mod is a must in my opinion.

I think I like NTW more than empire. The theatre is way bigger on empire and can be more interesting at times with the added freedom. But it seems like everything ETW did wrong, they fixed in NTW. Maybe not everything, but what I noticed most was the diplomacy was better, combat more interesting and most importantly, the better optimization in NTW. I have a good PC and can run both on ultra, but ETW stutters a lot in the campaign map, regardless of settings.

Just changing theatres in ETW or waiting for AI on a turn can take up to 10 minutes because of multiple long stutters/freezes. The combat has hardly any lag though.

Got 150+hours on both combined, and will continue to pile up lol

It may have been perpetuated by Napoleon’s army, the emperor was often surrounded by larger bodyguards and soldiers, giving the impression of him being smaller. This was especially true of the Imperial Guard units which had height requirements, leading to them all being taller than him. Napoleon was even named the ‘le petit caporal’, translated as ‘little corporal’, though it was a term of affection rather than height. The ‘myth’ was certainly perpetuated by the propaganda of his enemies

After the famous general and emperor died in 1821, his body was autopsied in France, and his height was noted as 5 foot 2 inches. This measurement was in French feet (pieds de roi) and was never correctly converted to standard English measure. In English feet, Napoleon stood 5 foot 6.5 inches tall. So the poor guy was shorted a full 4.5 inches in height. So you are correct sir!

I am a history fanatic and i find it total fascinating! That being said NTW has been great to me so far! Great graphics even on medium settings and the battle AI is the best beside RTW, in my humble opinion. I have enjoyed the campaign so far, it is true the AI does NOT do awhole lot to attack you and they field alot of militia and line infantry but when they do attack its hard core and when they defend their land they are vicious! I give napoloen total war a 8 out of 10. I would have liked to see a little more detail in running my empire and the policies that govern it, also i would have liked to have seen an expansion that takes you into the early industrial revolution. So much happened in warefare, tech, and tactics around this time! I would have expanded the battle expirience to more then just lining your troops up and blowing each other away!

Yea, Egypt and Persia would be cool. My Persian professor loves to talk about Napoleon, war, and armies. If he's ever played a video game before, he'd get crazed with this.

@shiyboy4 In reality, Napoleon wasn't even a short man. One theory suggests the misconception was due to the conversion between English/French units. It's widely believed that he was actually about 5'6".

As you mentioned, the term could have derived from his rank, or rather the fact that he appeared short while accompanied by members of the Imperial Guard, who were notably above average height.

Those are the minimum system requirements. Right now you're sitting on the edge depending on your operating system.

@Mossman67 Yes, you can only recruit one unit type - "Common People" - and the more the British kill the more territory they lose. The game would come with a pre-signed prescription for anti-depressants. Trust me after a few "battles" you would need them.
