Ask the Derm - How often should I change my razor?

Hello, this is Dr. Steve for Ask the Derm
and today's question is... How often
should I change my razor?
And that's a good question. It depends
on how much you want to spend on
razors in the first place.
Some razor blades are now being advertised
to last, you know, at least two or
three shavings. Some for many more.
So, it depends on the brand that you use.
But certainly if you encounter dullness, if
you're not getting the hairs off...
that you think you should be removed
in one swipe, well then yeah, it's time
to change the razor.
With electric razors, it's a little bit
different. Sometimes they recommend
actually cleaning the blades...
or actually changing the blades every
year or every two years.
And you can buy, of course, separate
attachments so you don't have to
throw out your whole razor blade...
You just get the head for it. Norelco,
Remington all make excellent products.
