AMD RX 6500 XT - Can It Really Be THAT Bad?

We all know that PC gaming has been out of reach for most consumers, especially given the price of graphics cards in the last 18 months, but AMD think they have the answer, with the Radeon RX 6500 XT, but with 4GB of RAM, and a less than admirable memory bus, can the price really be its saving grace? Let's find out shall we?

Do you think I'm being too critical or fair in my assessment?

Guys, keep in mind most of these reviews are people that are used to gaming on top tier GPU's. Honestly for me this is more than enough; I play mainly fortnite, warzone, and rocket league and I easily can get 200+ fps on these titles. And with an overclock it would be even faster. As a mid tier gamer this is possibly one of the best gpu's for the price range. I had a Gtx 1050 and those are worth more than the rx 6500 xt that I bought. At the end I actually like this card and recommend it to mid-tier gamers or people looking to buy or build a pc in 2022. ( 3050 are good but it is basically impossible to get.)

After all the down side heard, I still bought one. Why? Cuz I finally could. It's upgrading my rx560 which is all I could find 17mths ago for twice the price! So I'm happy to be able to play games at 60fps at 1080p.

i bought his card solely for the reason that i dont feel like waiting another 10 months to get a card, i managed to get it a msrp i was running a 560, so at $200 its the best thing i could have got right now

shambles how? We have to forget about cards from 5 years ago. Comparing the 6500XT to current new cards at the same price means comparing it to a 1650. Second hand RX580s go for £80-100 more. Days of the £150 GPU have gone.

My 1660ti was looking soooo good in those charts. I get the framerates I desire, however its just a pity it has a cheap cooler stuck on it. Never buying zotac again :(

My biggest disappointment about this card is that this card is gimped too much.
IMO, 6500XT should:
1. Get more VRAM (or create 8GB variant of it)
2. Increase the bus (to x8 minimum, seriously is it cost too much to wire the connection?)
3. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, BRING BACK THE ENCODERS, IT'S USEFUL FOR STREAMING AND VIDEO RENDERING.

In Australia, this was the only available card under $300. I couldn't find any other card at this price range and most cards like GTX 1650 Super or RX 580 are not available in the market. And I'm coming from an RX 550 so it is a pretty big upgrade for me. Also, I am not into any kind of video editing and stuff like that, and I only use one monitor so I think for the situation, it is a pretty decent card.

For any gamer on a budget it is a viable solution but should be much better n design without so many shortcomings for a desktop GPU and that's a strong indication that as you already said in the video, it was probably designed for notebooks initially.

For me. It's just too expensive. This is that the RX550/GTX1050 should be today - IE around £100/£120 you get usable 1080p performance. The raytracing is a complete waste of time with this level of performance.

This card is pretty much a failure, can't wait for Intel Arc GPUs to hopefully shake up the GPU market duopoly

Just spotted this card on offer on Scan for £157.99 .. My current setup is MSI Radeon R570, Ryzen5600 with 12 gb Ram.... Cyberpunk plays very well on this card and setup so would this card be worth a upgrade at this price? I dont really want to spend alot i only really play Hitman or Cyberpunk atm .

Wow, can't even encode video on this thing either! Would be amazed in a "normal" market if they'd hit the £100 mark. Too many things cut back for cheapness, especially the x4 lanes, it's only pennies more to make it at least x8!

I'm using the iGPU on a Ryzen 7 5700G. I'm hard pressed to see the 6500XT as a viable upgrade. I play CoD Vanguard mostly and get 50+ FPS on medium settings/80+ FPS on low. I'm still hawking the RX 6600 for my upgrade. Especially since the Asus and MSI 6600's have been hovering around 375 USD for over a month. The 6500XT would be an upgrade for me, but I don't think it'd be a good enough upgrade to justify the $250+ price tag.

Starting @ £180, and you sort of recommend it. what a joke the GPU market has become. smh.

Is a 5500 with 8GB memory better than the 6500 with 4GB? Are there differences in manufacturer models? Is the AMD 5600G, with 16GB RAM crucial ballistic better than the 6500?

Non-streaming person on a budget that just wanna plays games with friends would love this card. For 1080p and a 12100f and 16gb of ram it is amazing
