8.6 GM 10 bolt rear whine / humming noise ring and pinion bearing and racers make noise while under acceleration on my GMC Yukon same rear for Tahoe, Silverado, Suburban and most 1/2 ton trucks Chevy and GM. I got real lucky that I caught it on time and the bearing didn’t give out and shred to pieces in between the gears.

Check the level of oil in your differential.

I have that same sound & it started out like a low power steering fluid sound.
02' Blazer ZR2 w/ G80 Locker.
I thought it was my outer Driver's side rear bearing & changed it out yesterday but that's not it. When I use a stick magnet to my ear from the diff, it seems to be making the most noise. Almost like it's low on fluid but I just filled it up.
I guess it's the yoke nut or pass side outer bearing. I don't tow & everything inside the diff looked nice & clean. Very little shavings on the cover magnet

Check your pinion nut, mine done the exact same thing and somehow my pinion nut loosened itself,

Common issue common diagnosis. When you are coasting even at 60mph you won’t hear the noise till you give it gas putting pressure on the rearend. It’s the pinion bearing and race.
If you chock the front tires, put on the E brake and put it in neutral engine off. You can crawl under there and push up and down on the yoke and feel the pinion gear is sloppy.

I have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 RWD and I was getting a noise like that and it gotta worse when I accelerated on the gas pedal I ended up blowing out my u joint in the rear end of my drive shaft and the bearing behind my pinion sail that holds that bar steady in place is that bearing worse case is you have to drop you’re drive shaft to find out! If it’s that bearing I would also take off you’re back plate to you’re pumpkin and make sure no gears of chipped, dented, metal shreds in their some where!
Im having to rebuild my rear end!

Tighten the pinion some if it don’t go away there’s a bearing inside take a crap! Most likely just need more torque on pinion bearing

I have a noise that sounds like the power steering pump is low bit from the back and now there is a bit of a scraping sound happening?

Is this caused by the rear differential? My c63 is making this sound on deceleration. Currently having my rear diff swapped to see if it helps

Is it safe to check it like this 😮? I ask because I have a noise coming from the rear in my 03 duramax. It only is noticeable over 60mph on the freeway. It comes and goes sometimes

I think I have this same problem with my 2015 charger. I've been trying to find out where exactly it's coming from. I changed my differential fluid and still getting the same noise.

And they say you don’t need a rear differential oil change just see what happens lol 45k every time
