In beta gta 5 had more improved mechanics from gta iv like restaurants, physics and there were way more trees, bushes, palm trees etcetera. But when the tested the game on the ps3 and Xbox 360 it barely ran properly. So they cut content to make it easier for users to enjoy. Gta 5 was way ahead of its time

I think GTAV was just really pushing the limits of the ps3. The world was already huge for the time. Having even more advanced restaurants with intelligent NPCs within them would've been pushing it over the edge. They've shown what they can do now with RDR2 in terms of advanced tech for their games. GTAVI is going to be something else. No way they don't have restaurants this time around. They'll probably have multiple restaurant options. Games are far more advanced than 10yrs ago and we thought that was as advanced it could get back then. Not that GTA5 couldn't have food chains, but I feel like they would've had to cut other pieces of the map to make that happen. Nowadays they don't have to compensate as much. GTA4 was more advanced than the previous ones but still had to cut back on the food chains and the options. San Andreas was more advanced in that area than 4 was. They've shown with RDR2 that they can do all of that now. In that game you can go into bars and you can choose between what dish you want. You can get baths. There's multiple tailors throughout the map. Tons of random NPCs you can come across that can start a whole side story. Card playing. Hunt animals to make your own food. Making your own medicine. Can lasso people and drag them from your horse. You can come across weird sh*t like the mutant creature thing and the incest couple. RDR2 showcases what they are now capable of and they've only gotten more advanced since. GTAV could've never done all of what RDR2 can. GTAVI is going to show what they're really capable of now.
