This is a quick guide that explains everything you need to know about displaying 4K HDR video using a blu-ray player or media player such as a Roku, Fire TV, or other set top boxes such as the Nvidia Shield.

In order to properly display 4K HDR (Dolby Vision or HDR10) content that is HDCP 2.2 protected you must ensure that your all of the devices, including your TV, support HDCP 2.2. You must also ensure that the HDMI cable you are using has the bandwidth necessary to display premium 4K HDR content.

I only wish I had seen this incredible video before I embarked on my 4k projector setup, reading countless complex articles and mostly trial-and-error! Thanks immensely !

Good explanations! Clear and concise. Loved this. I already knew this stuff but my wife was confused, so I just popped your video on for her and she was able to get it all... now on to convincing her why we NEED this stuff haha

4K is actually 4 times the resolution of 1080p. Sorry. This is what happens when you shoot videos at 2am. :)

Glad I stumbled upon your channel. I've been researching 4k TVs like crazy. So much great info. I didn't know what HDCP 2.2 meant, lucky for me I bought a receiver with that spec.

I never like or subscribe to videos, they never seem concise enough to warrant it. You speak clearly, not too fast or slow, use appropriate imagery to describe everything well and are friendly in your demeanor which makes the confusion less daunting all without being needlessly comedic as other content creators try to do. All top info, no waffle and well packaged. Definitely warrants a like and subscribe. I look forward to watching your other content as this has really helped me in a few short minutes. Well done.

Love the hip hop instrumentals in the videos bro, you don't see it enough. Much less intrusive than a lot of background music you hear with YouTuber's

Well done Mr. Majestic, thank you. My only add is the fact some of the older 4K capable TV's may have a HDCP 2.2 input but it is not labeled. For my Samsung it was HDMI IN 3 (MHL). The others, HDMI IN 1 (STB), HDMI IN 2 (DVI), and HDMI 4 (ARC) were incompatible. This fact was hidden deep in the Owners Manual.

Excellent presentation. Not new info for me, but very useful for most viewers. Why would anyone give a thumbs down?

@ 3:08, I learned this the hard way. In October, I bought my first 4K TV, which is a TCL 55p605 Of course, it has HDR. I bought some, cheap, WalMart-exclusive HDMI cables, called Blackweb. They were, like $12+. They WERE high-speed, 2.0 4K cables. Everything was fine, watching 4K content, UNTIL I bought an actual 4K Blu Ray player. The display showed good, but very dim. Also, when playing my PS4 Pro in HDR, the picture was bright, but the quality seemed, slightly grainy. I was puzzled. One day, I was searching on Best Buy's website, just browsing 4K movies. I saw some HDMI cables by Audioquest. I saw the cables were high in price. However, I saw on the top of the cable, 4+HDR. Saw many great ratings. I decided to buy one. I used it, when watching my 4K Blu-Ray player and noticed the display, was much brighter, clearer and had better sound. That made me realize, if you have a 4K TV with HDR, which many do not, you must have a 4K cable that SUPPORTS HDR.

I purchased the ibirdie 4k hdr10 support cable on Amazon and I'm very happy with it. Even though HDMI cables may not be a huge change in my personal opinion they can offer a much crisp picture and offer great speed to the tv. I sleep Happy knowing I got my cable for $16 with positive reviews

Thanks for a very well done presentation on the topic. Even as a very technical guy, this was just not an area where I had training or expertise so, even 6 years on, your video is a great way to get basic understanding of what all these acronyms mean and how they apply in our entertainment systems.

Your content is fantastic. Straight, clear and to the point. I have seen a bunch of videos on YouTube where people rumble on an on, you instead cover the subject matter and explain what you set out to cover in each video. Subscribed.

wassup bro, my question is why the heck do you got only 10k subs, cause you deserve more!

I first learned about HDCP when I bought a projector and the HD-DVD add on for the Xbox 360. My first projector was an older Dell, and I had to buy a DVI to HDMI adapter, which was not compatible with playing HD-DVD's due to HDCP. I had to use component cables, which had no dependency on HDCP, to watch 1080P movies on my 360.
