Only way that worked! When she says choose your old account, she meant to say new account, then go to control panel from the new admin, and then change account, click on old account, hit delete account, delete files.

YES! All of the other information I found told how to reset everything back to factory settings in such a complicated way. All I wanted to do was wipe all of the personal data, and this worked perfectly. Thank you!

This was great and easy. My only question is, are these files actually gone and not recoverable by the person who received my computer as a donation. In other words, is the Old Account actually totally wiped out and the New Account like a factory reset with no little bits left from the Old Account?

Thanks for this video. I have just followed the process you recommended. It deleted a lot of files. Unfortunately, some applications have stored important files outside of the user structure. Therefore, this process is not comprehensive enough to clean a laptop before giving it to another person.

Curious, I tried out my xp laptop & it still works perfectly. Only problem chrome no longer supports xp & I can no longer access Internet as it says the sites aren't secure. Is there anything that can be done? Thank you in advance for any help.

I did a search of My Pictures and nothing.

I put into search "Kodak" because I had a lot of photos years ago from my Kodak camera I loaded on. I had that folder named Kodak. They did show up. I deleted them but this makes me wonder if anything else is still there.

I did some searches for some documents using different key words but no documents appeared.

I'm going to take the hard drive out and destroy it. My computer is about 18 yrs old. It had XP. It's completely useless.

Think when you said old account to click on you meant new acc? The old acc doesn't allow you to delete

Oops I put my comment on your other video about deleting your account on windows xp Anyway I got to where it says what do you want to change about your account qnd on the list of options there was no selection for delete my account. there was something in learn about deleting your account anc it basically says you cannot delete your own account you have to have someone else do it for you ?

I'm getting "Internet Explorer Script Error - An error has occurred in the script on this page" when I open User accounts under Admin1, and I can't close it to get to the user accounts to delete anything. Anyone help?

I don't seem to have a recovery partition, so F11/ F8 wasn't working for me. After doing this, however, I found that even after deleting the old account a number of personal files were still available after a simple search.
