LV Yayoi Kusama First Impressions & Unboxing

In which I share some not to pleasing wear & tear in my first impressions of the LV x Yayoi Kusama Alma BB bag. :( And also not a very good unboxing of another item from the same collection. :(((

Have you tried wiping the dots with a damp soft cloth or rubbing with your fingers to see if the marks come off. Maybe it’s glazing residue. I’ve had a few pieces that had marks that did rub off. If they don’t, this may give you some insight as to what could happen in future with wear and tear.

Regarding the pumpkin cloche. You could remove the keys but I still think the Kusama logo will rub off more because as you carry the bag, movement will cause natural friction, and being epi, the leather is grainy, so will more acute, compared to smooth leather. It’s a beautiful bag. Keep us updated on what you decide.

I just got the Alma bb in black and haven’t used it yet but now I’m very concerned about the white dots! I don’t want to have to be careful with a black Epi leather bag. I think you basically answered your own question. You feel underwhelmed by them. I think you should return them instead of trying to find reasons to keep them. There’ll be other pieces in future that you’ll love 😊

I think that you should just keep it and enjoy it. In the future, the white can always be repaired.
It occurs to me that you could buy a twilly and put it between the bag and the pumpkin.
The scarf looks great on you! But I wouldn’t frame it.

About the pumkin, perhaps put a felt/microfiber textile cut in the shape of the pumkin to stay behind the clochete/ pumkin. Was good to know this could happen. Thanks for honest review<3

I completely understand what you mean about the scarf. You don’t seem very happy with it, so I say return the scarf. Maybe see if there’s a design you like better in the next Kusama release. For the bag, I say keep it for now. I don’t think LV would accept it as a return at this point since you said it’s been a month. If you change your mind on the Alma I’m sure you could sell it later on, or you could try LV Repairs and maybe they would honor an exchange. ❤ But in the end, do whatever will make you happy. 😊

I spoke to my SA about how the dots are printed and expressed my concerns. She said “They are part of the pattern of the leather so there is several layers of sealing over them. So if you need to wipe it down or anything don’t worry about it! You’re all good to go to use your bag and not worry”

I had that same reaction when I saw the scarf. It was quite instantaneous. There is nothing wrong with it aesthetically, but in my eyes it somehow moved Kusama's work from "art" to "branding". It felt like a lessening of what was there, which is a pity.

i don't like the scarf, a big pumpkin iys garish, but when it is on the neck it actually looks really nice.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. That’s indeed very disappointing. I get what you say about looking like a “copy” of the artwork comparing to Hermes, although the pairing of your 2 items looks really cool on you. I didn’t think much of the collection, although I like yoyoi kusama’s work, until I saw your first unboxing. You made me go check the alma at the LV store but I was too worried to stain the white dots on what exactly as you point out should be a carefree bag. I would never imagined that just the bag charm would do that. That’s so frustrating 😢

I saw the happiness in you with the items and it looked good and then the big but…. Just confused me… it’s LV and it’s a crossover. She is 93 and I’m just glad she made it available for the ones who cannot actually afford her actual artworks like you said. These items are still not cheap but within reasons and reach. Mental wellness is in the spot if people are learning who is YK (I hope.) Hermès is Hermès. I wouldn’t put these two together. Thanks for sharing anyway. The bag charm rubbing off is a little disappointing. I’d exchange for a new one, then protect it in the back discreetly if possible. The bag charm details are stunning in person.

Oh no! That’s super annoying. Maybe try removing the keys so there’s less pressure.I love this piece and will be keeping it lol it’s just so fun. Worst case the charm will hide the mark.

I would exchange while you can!! I purchased this same bag, but am on the fence because I don't like Epi Alma BB. I prefer the Neonoe (which I also purchased). Between the two, I like them both but I also know that they're coming out with Act 2 for Kusama at the end of March. More pumpkin themed, supposedly.... I love Kusama too. 😊
