Although it sucks to be rejected by someone you like, I don't know why a lot of people act like "friendzoning" a guy makes you a jerk, tease, a shallow or picky person, etc. Sometimes it's just about preferences. It does suck when you start to like your friend in a romantic way and then find out that you can't be with them, but that doesn't mean the friend is in the wrong for not liking you in that way. I'm sure that most people have "friendzoned" at least one friend in our lives without realizing.
