Capalaba LNP candidate Russell Field has promised to get tough on youth crime as he opened up about his decision to run in the Queensland election.

Mr Field tragically lost his son, daughter-in-law and unborn grandchild after they were killed by a teenager driving a stolen car in 2021.

The LNP candidate will contest the safe Labor seat where the incident happened.

“When the accident happened I had no intentions of standing up and being in politics,” Mr Field told Sky News Australia.

“You go through life all the way through and you think, ‘What am I going to do?’. Something has to be done. It has to change.”

Youth criminals cant continue to commit crimes if they are in jail...but they certainly can and will if they are out on bail.

Good on ya Russell and good luck. You would think that with the level of crime in Capalaba and surrounding areas that you would walk it in easy but sadly many people can't see what is actually happening right in front of them. Some fools would still vote Labor even if you held them at knife point in their own homes .... and that happens regularly under the Miles government.

I sold a business and lost a lot of money as a result. Criminals affecting my business and customers were unchecked. There was no help even when I identified the criminals.
I knew there was too much of a possibility that I would land in official trouble from taking a hands on approach. My young family had to come first.
I got off cheaply compared to this candidate.

Got my vote .. but then I don't live in Capalaba. I do have a lot of friends who live there though whom I will be telling about Russell Field. Youth crime is simply way out of control because our governments have made it that way by signing up to the UN Convention for Children's Rights, which demands that young offenders are detained only as a very very very very very very last resort and even then only for the most heinous crimes. We are bound by International Conventions, Agreements and Treaties .. not to mention Trade Agreements that we plebs aren't even allowed to look at. These are the International balls and chains that are now around our ankles. This is how we lose our sovereignty and become part of a "one world government". Meanwhile innocent people are dying. Any government that allows drunken, , drugged out youth to steal cars and drive incredibly dangerously on our roads is not a friend of the people. I don't even trust the LNP on this issue .. as they also have been bought and owned by the UN/WEF.

To lose his son and pregnant daughter-in-law is a preventable tragedy. What is the reason behind their bail status? The mother was stabbed to death when she and her husband were trying to prevent the young males from a home invasion. The young males were on bail, seems that it is happening far too often!

It doesn’t help that Funicane Road where they were killed is constantly undergoing roadworks either…from Capalaba to Cleveland……every time we travel along that route there is always a problem..especially idiots coming out of the Alexandra Hills pub and turning onto the road…the government need to fix the road properly once and for all.
