I used to be cripplingly hard on myself when I was a teenager. I used to feel any little mistake, any accident, anything aside from perfection as unequivocal failure. I was contemplating suicide when my dad came to me to have a talk. I told him how I was feeling, and how hard I was on myself all the time. This is what he told me. I've never forgotten it, it's something that changed my life. I love you dad.

6:13 This is why we need these kinds of powerful messages in animation. This whole scene always makes me emotional. Especially later on when Hiccup starts to admit that he thought he's always let his dad down, I personally am going through the same struggle of feeling the same way. There's not a day that goes by that I don't think about it in some capacity. But then we follow this scene up with probably one of the wisest characters from my childhood in Iroh, saying that we need to keep going if we're ever to see positive change we want and need.
This edit is amazing and I fail to see how animation is a form solely for kids.
