0:48 I believe what they claim is true. I belong to the bunt community from tulunadu (to give a context, 'bunt' is a present day upper caste in Karnataka and our community lives mainly in tulunadu, that is Mangaluru and Udupi. Some notable people belonging to this community are Aishwarya Rai, Sunil Shetty, etc, ). I was always interested in knowing my lineage since we bunts hold quite a pride in our name. Our recent ancestors were traders and bussinessmen, but there was no clear 'story' of where we came from. I did some research and found out that bunts are traditionally believed to be the descendants of nagavanshi kshatriyas.

*Nagavanshi kshatriyas* are the descendants of lineage of warriors or Kshatriyas who had direct roots to serpents or nagas, and it is believed that they are direct descendants of Takshaka or Vasuki. I did not know that bunts were Kshatriyas, but it makes sense because our close ancestors were presumably rich landowners in Tulunadu.

Also, this must be the reason naga is a deity in our community. Nagas hold high reverence and are often linked with fertility and prosperity.

Every year, we bunts go to this one place which is believed to be our 'moolasthana' for this particular Pooja, where we worship stone idols of nagas in an open space. If you come to Mangaluru or Udupi, you will find these stone idols of Naga almost everywhere like you find temples.

That must be also the reason why our elders in our community always told us to marry within the caste. It's not because of the caste system or anything, it's because they want to preserve our lineage. Literally gives me chills

I don't remember the name of that village. But there's a ritual in which before building any house. People of that village first built small hole type house for snake and then start building their own house and later after construction. One snake comes in that hole and stays forever.

Naag to hamare culture aur nature ka bahut bada hissa hain. Yeh bhi ho sakta hain ki icchadhaari naag aur naagin hamare beech mein hi rehte ho, par humko inke baare mein pata na ho. Hamare culture mein naag aur naagino ko devi devta ka status haasil hain.

7:42 this is a very important question that you have left open ended, are these nagas same as the snake on land or are they some other kind of reptile which are yet not explored or cannot been seen since they are beyong 3 dimension.? We need more literature on this...
