The ANC National Executive Committee has committed to pursue the formation of a government of national unity (GNU).

The decision was revealed by ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa last night, after a marathon meeting held in Boksburg Thursday.

The ANC National Executive Committee met to charter the way forward after the party failed to secure a majority vote in the May general elections.

To unpack this, we are joined on Zoom by SARChI Chair of African Diplomacy and Foreign Policy at the University of Johannesburg Professor Chris Landsberg.

These results are a fair warning to all political parties and candidates not get too comfortable and take the electorate for granted - All Politicians need to focus on enhancing the lives of all South African citizens to maintain their positions in government !

MK doesn't want to negotiate so what must the ANC do? We can't allow Duduzile and her Father to hold the country hostage we need to move forward

No party's identity is more important then the country. The country's development is the ultimate agenda. Compromise is the answer...

The poor would benefit far more from parties that encourage investment than they would from those that rant against Western capitalism.

There's no need for the professor or his co-writer to pat himself on his back. I started a conversation about a GNU being better than a coalition government on News24 comments. Lits of responses in favour. And that was a week before the esteemed academics wrote their piece.

The ANC cannot have the luxury of being a party and a tripartite movement.bThese people have already been included in the numbers of the ANC because they were part of the ANC voting campaigns. So, the ANC's loss is their loss also. Own your loss and don't behave like you have another vote.
