Papua New Guinea won't be used for 'offensive military operations': PM James Marape | WION Originals

The island nation of Papua New Guinea in the south-western Pacific has announced its verdict. The nation denies the motherland to be used for any war-related offensive military operations. The United States and Papua New Guinea have signed a new bilateral defence cooperation agreement. The new defence cooperation is expected to expand U.S. access to military & other facilities in PNG.

the US has a history of not complying to its own agreements and worse international law. I am hoping that the new US President in 2024 will remove this Agreement like what Donald Trump did with Obama's Trans-Pacific Partnership when he came into office.

Agreement or No Agreement, the US has not contributed to Papua New Guinea's socio-economic development since it left after world war two (WW2).

Economic benefit packages for png have not been spelled out but some generalities of a defence corporation pact between the two countries have been announced over and over again by the png PM. PNG must be big time lacking in its defence strategies whilst its economy and its people must be well off. Thumbs up png pm.

Leaders represent people and the decisions they make must be agreed by the people they represent.
However in PNG, majority of the people still didn't agree but the agreement was signed forcefully.
We don't know who these leaders represent because they are making decisions that people don't agree to.

US does its planning for decades ahead before executing unlike Papua New Guinea. We only think and do things for a short period of time. Therefore, the Security PAC documents sign by the current government will jeopardize the future of the country in its long term and may have a disadvantage in which the same or another government cannot have a say but to comply to both either the advantages or disadvantages of the actions....
