My system was in AHCI mode before I got Optane. Is it possible to switch an existing system over from AHCI to Raid/Optane without destroying the data on the drives? Additionally, I have two non OS storage drives in a RAID 1 setup using Window's built in RAID controllers. How will switching over to RAID mode affect those drives?

Thanks for the clarification. I was not sure if it worked on a 7th Gen I5 Processor, but looks like I'm good.

Thanks, my windows 11 on SSD Evo850 is working fine but as soon as I enable the optane in bios I get blue screen and restarts to blue screen and repair with no luck. But it all works again when I disable it.
I cloned my ssd to WD_black sn850 M2 card and still same issue. Even though I have already updated bios and M2 to latest firmware.

What am I doing wrong?

We definitely need more steps intel put on their video. You guys are definitely not making things easier. I wish it was complete. Once the genie it’s enabled and saved it doesn’t boot and windows won’t load you have to have bootable iso

Just got a MSI Gaming Force and got the Optane 16gb+1TB . Is it recommended i use that 1TB to install Windows 11, or should i just install windows on my 3.5'' 4Tb HDD to get the best performance? thanks

"As you can see, it has two M.2 Slots. You can pick any of them for your Intel Optane drive. However, we recommend the first slot."

Humph!!!!

I've spent ages debugging why Optane on an MSI B360M Mortar wouldn't work at all. Turns out you have to put it in the SECOND slot - M.2_2. Doesn't work in M.2_1.

Would have been helpful if the manual had said this, and this video didn't help in that regard.

was just messing around with my new MSI MPG Z390 Gaming Plus motherboard with 2x M.2 NVMe PCI disks.
just a clean setup nothing really special, but there is a problem with the mentioned feature.

So when by default the NVMe disks are marked as bootable adrives enabled in AHCI mode or RAID mode (unconfigured).

however once I enabled the MSI Optane Genie for M.2 this magically removes the NVMe PCI disks as no longer being bootable even after i've manually configured a RAID array (R0 or R1 doesn't matter). which is a problem because you cannot install an OS if the disk isn't marked by the BIOS firmware as a bootable device.
Even when you use the Hardware Monitor feature the Optane makes it so to trick the motherboard that there is no longer a 2nd NVMe disk inserted and then just makes 1 NMVe drives and markes it as remapping device, but under boot options it's no longer to be used.

so for now i'll just use AHCI mode

Hey please recommend a x199 motherboard with Intel optane support for my next build. And btw MSI your motherboards and graphics cards are pretty darn good. I am having your tomahawk motherboard in my previous three builds along with your gtx1080 ti. Good job.
