Welcome to my channel. I have been playing and collecting games since 1987 and I use this channel to share my passion and memories of gaming. I review games that I believe are under appreciated or wrongfully dismissed on Game Genie Reviews. Video Game Nostalgia is a fun series where I take a look at a topic from my gaming past and share games that come to mind from it. I also do Top 10 lists, of course I do...what else is on youtube right? Well I like to think I put my own spin on them because they are based on my life in gaming. Hope you enjoy the channel and always looking forward to hearing from you.

Nicely done! I long to find a random copy of Crusader of Centy for Genesis at a yard sale or something.

Don't know if this counts, but I was lucky enough to find a ClayFighter Sculptor's Cut for $25 about 3 years ago.

Little Samson is so much fun. I like when the expensive game is a good one.

I was able o find a copy of Magical Chase in a Hard Off a couple of years ago for a decent price, it was awesome as I'd always assumed I'd never own that game because of the price. Even the Japanese version goes for ridiculous sums of money.

The Stand was a fantastic book! Great Video Mike, it's nice to see a reviewer admit to using the easy level in games. Just because we aren't great at games doesn't mean we don't love them as well!

There's so many holy grails out there, this could have turned into a long episode.

When I think of holy grail I think of a game you MUST have or REALLY want. Trophy games like the ones you stated are can be in that category. Personally I wanted a Phantasy star 2 CIB and I considered that a grail. Not pricey at all. But it was a must have due to the ties I have to it. Another example that falls into Trophy game that I now own is Ninja Gaiden Trilogy. I did rent this as a kid and played it many times, so I guess it was a grail too. I think popularity these days make games more sought after as Trophy games. Room Tour.

Panzer Dragoon Saga on the Sega Saturn. While it doesn't go for a grand usually it's always over 700 and had a very limited release.

I do not own any of these but I guess that is what flash carts are for? I do have a sealed copy of Die Hard for the NES though.

This is a really good idea for a video Mike and there are a lot of reasons why I liked it. I think the biggest reason why its an appealing video is you focused on the holy grail games that still had a wide release and you didn't go after easy targets such as stadium events and the world championship carts. They are games that in the grand scheme of things can still be obtainable if your incredibly lucky or incredibly rich.

When I collected video games heavily in the early 2010's you could still get most of the holy grails for less than 500 dollars but its definitely not like that anymore. My personal rule is that 500 dollars is the absolute most that I will ever spend for a video game and I only did that twice back in the 2010's. That was for Keio's Flying Squadron and Lucienne's Quest. When the prices started to go above 500 dollars especially for the older systems is when I decided to modify my collection goals. I couldn't trust myself buying games online anymore especially for cartridge based systems because of the high amount of fakes and reproductions there are.

Thankfully there aren't too many games that I need to collect anymore since I modified my collection goals. I think the most expensive ones I'm after usually kick around the 200 to 250 range.

1.) Little Samson - To be honest. I've never played this game before. If I wanted to play the original cartridge bad enough, I could always play Phil's copy if need be. I still can't believe he got his copy CIB for 80 bucks back before the retro video game craze started to kick into high gear.

2.) Keio's Flying Squadron - If memory serves me correctly. I think it was my copy that you got to hold for yourself. I was still working away from home when my game dealer bought it for me. I still haven't had a chance to play it myself.

3.) Magical Chase - I don't think there is anybody in the entire province of Newfoundland & Labrador that even owns this game to be honest. I could be wrong. Turbo Grafx stuff is always hard to find in the province and I only ever seeing turbo grafx stuff at radio shack when it was first released back in the day.

I hope you continue this series Mike, and focus on holy grails for other systems such as:

1.) Sega Genesis
2.) Sega Dreamcast
3.) Super Nintendo

and many others.

MUSHA is one of my grail games. I could never pay the high prices it goes for. I never played Little Samson but it looks fun. I've played both Magical Chase and Keio Flying Squadron and the are great fun.

I have Hagane on the SNES. Only paid $2.99 back in the day.

Magical chase rocks, the action is like nothing else out there and I'm sure you can beat the game with enough practice and buying the right goods in the shop.

Not a Holy Grail title but I am proud to have purchased Tengen's Tetris brand new when released for $19.99 before Nintendo's lawyers made stores remove them, & it is by far a way superior version then Nintendo released, still own & play it to this day :) It currently can be bought on Amazon for around $90 American.

Great video as usual. As an evolutionary biologist by day, my holy grail is EVO the Search for Eden. Hope to own it one day, but I can't justify paying $200 for a game. Can't even imagine there are folks who pay thousands for any game, but hey to each his own.

Hey! I have most of these.. on my everdrives. They really are fun but it is a shame the cost makes them out of reach. At least they are playable for the rest of us.

You said "had" do you no longer have little Samson? The only holy grail game I've ever owned was Panzar Dragoon Saga for the Saturn and I sold it the minute I found it as I basically got it for nothing. O yea it was minty fresh too.

I would think I have or 4 holy grails? I guess if you consider them Holy Grails. I mean I definitely have some that are worth a ton, but I think I also have games that aren't worth AS MUCH, but still feel like "rare gaming antiquities" to me that you just don't see every day. Little Samson is one of the few holy grails I feel is worth the money, just because it's actually good too. Too many holy grails just plain suck haha. I still can't believe how much Magical Chase is worth, and I know someone who lives by me who has it and has been trying to sell it but cant find a buyer. Great video, bud!
