I have been baptized into the Church for almost a year now and did not know this. The only thing that I have known is to fast before and say the short group prayer together with the rest of the Church just before receiving Holy Communion. I will ask my spiritual father. The precommunion prayers are full of grace, each sentence imparts it's content, you ask for contrition - you get it - you ask for an increase of virtue - you get it - spiritual communion - and prayer takes on a deeper tangibility. We should all be saying those prayers, it's just our laziness that gets in the way. Thank you for this reminder Vladyka.

The smaller Prayer Rule for Holy Communion is a very convenient format, arranged in a way that is very easy to follow… the prayers are also found in the original Jordanville Prayer Book and in other books, but I find the smaller blue Prayer Rule format to be most helpful and convenient… The OCA St. Tikhon Prayer Book and the Antiochian “Little Red” Prayer Book also has these prayers… as always, as His Grace counseled, ask your priest…

I have communed regularly since Baptism and it's been a tough & ascetic process for me. Basically each week of my life has become a precarious struggle in which I prepare for the 8th Day 😅 It sucks to be honest but Communion has become the highlight of my life & it means so much to me. I have ADHD pretty bad, and living a liturgical life has been a miracle of order & stability for me. My pastor helped me get my prayer habit going by breaking up the communion prayer just like you mentioned!

Anyways I give thanks to God for οἰκονομία as well such a faithful pastor & Nονός who set a great example to follow.

Unfortunately our priest never told us about the Prayers in Preparation. It was only when we went to our SF later at a Monastery that he instructed us.

Your Grace, forgive me, but are there SPECIFIC ones in the prayer book that should be prayed every week? There are so many printed therein that, in my opinion, it is not realistic to try to do them all. I was expecting you the be more specific when I started watching the vid. Thank you - Many Years😌☦️

Is it not better to say a few communion prayers and receive, than not receive because you did not say all 20? I know a friend who has six children, and does not attend a ROCOR parish anymore, because he can't have all of his kids confess, stand through the entire Vigil, read all the prayers and canon, each weekend? It's just too much and creates a view of Communion as some privilege, rather than a medicine.

I am certainly not anxious to have a 'spoon' or any other item that MIGHT have been placed into an mRNA Vaccinated person's mouth, subsequently placed into MY mouth directly afterwards . . in fact i would never do this. Are there ANY Orthodox Eastern rite Parishes with different options for receiving communion?
