Fertilizer prices are high, very high. Because Native Warm Season Grasses grow efficiently in poor soils, they are a good forage option that doesn't require added fertilizer.
Mixing in other functional diversity groups of native plants (warm season grasses, cool season grasses, forbs, and legumes) helps to recycle nutrients from one group of plants to the next.

Our Top Recommendations for summer forage production without fertilizer are Big Bluestem, Indiangrass, Eastern Gama Grass, and Switchgrass
Our Top recommendation for year round forage without fertilizer is a Diverse Native Grassland, which contains Native Warm Season Grasses, Native Cool Season Grasses, Native Forbs, and Native Legumes.

Just sitting here watching youtube and came across your video, I just purchased a farm in La Grand Oregon and it is irrigated limited though, The ground has perforated pipe through the fields so to drain off from the springs, Last year crop on the top 200 acres was winter wheat which was dry land and did around 75 bushels, I thought that some of these grass's would work great for grass hay, I am not far from the 45th parallel so we have a good growing season, And elevation is about 2900 ft, Beings i am new to that area i have plenty to learn, This area is also know for its grass seed production and maybe this could be something i could do, Nice Video i am going to search to see if you made more Thank You
