Create SPOON RINGS in 3 easy steps!! DIY spoon ring tutorial

Have you ever made rings out of spoons?? It's much easier than you'd think! Today I will show you how to make spoon rings in three simple steps (plus one bonus step)! There aren't many tools you need to make them - something to cut, like a jeweler's piercing saw frame or large cutters, something to sand, like a hand file or a belt sander and something to bend, for example a ring bending tool that will tackle even thick spoons! As a bonus, you might need something for polishing metal, like polishing papers or a rotary tool/bench polisher, to give your rings a nice, polished look.
This video was made possible thanks to our favourite tools manufacturer and supplier @PepetoolsUSA ! Check out the tools I'm using below.

Thank you for sharing the lovely work but I looked on the links and that great ring bending tool it’s over $300 as most of the tools are. I wish I could get them all but it’s just not possible. I’m glad Pepe tools is supportive of you as you do lovely work.

Hi! Thank you for this lovely video along with all of your videos. You are an incredible maker! Your work is amazing! We have some spoons left behind by my Grandma. I have to see if i can find them. In the meantime could you recommend a ring bending tool on a budget. Pepe tools is great but out of my budget. Sorry to bother you with this but i thought you may have another recommendation. If not no worries. Thank you again!!

Once again, my 50+ years experience making spoon rings has me advising that an ugly spoon always makes an ugly ring.

I'm curious as to whether the spoons you used are sterling silver or silver plated?

Do u make jewelry for people? I have patterned sterling silver spoons and I'd like to have rings or necklaces made from them.
Thanks

Do you anneal them first befor bending ? I always anneal mine and then wrap them one and a half times around so there is no gap. Yours are very pretty !

Krakows streets are lined with silver spoons! Must have missed that.

A word of warning for those in the UK with sterling silver (or gold) spoons/forks which are hallmarked. The hallmarking act 1973 does a Stirling job in maintaining the quality of gold, silver and platinum in the UK, but Section 5, subsection 1 states

"it shall be an offence for any person to make an addition, alteration or repair to an article bearing approved hallmarks, except in accordance with the written consent of an assay office."

This includes turning cutlery into jewellery. The written consent is in the form of a "Change of Use" certificate which you get from the assay office once they are sure that it hasn't been adulterated.

Sheffield Assay Office has a good page on the subject.
