SR3 - Solving geophysical inverse problems on GPUs with PyLops+cupy - Matteo, Lukas Mosser, David.

Today's Session was hosted by Matteo Ravasi. With an intro to PyLops, its CuPy acceleration from Matteo and with presentations from Lukas Mosser and David Alejandro Vargas on some of their recent use cases 👏

Inverse problems are ubiquitous in geoscience with applications spanning from earthquake and exploration seismology, all the way to electromagnetics and gravity potential methods. We will start this online event by presenting PyLops, a Python-based framework aimed at solving large-scale inverse problems, and its latest developments to allow interoperability between CPU and GPU computations. This will be followed by an open discussion where we wish to hear from the audience about their experience with PyLops and possibly identify any current limitations that has prevented them from benefitting from it in their work.
