Hello Flow-Family! It's Sunday morning here and I was so happy to have caught the live stream on Facebook! I also received Hilary's new book during the week and am enjoying reading through it, I already know that I will be highly recommending her book "Queen Spotting" and it's packed with excellent information AND of course, the queen spotting fold-outs - PG 12 gave me a queen spotting challenge I'm very happy to say! This is a lot of fun to watch and I also enjoyed that Hillary mentioned that she often acts on "intuition" or even maybe "premonitions" when deciding which of her colonies to visit. Many will scoff at that, but you certainly can get a "feeling" that there is something you should look in on. THANK YOU as always for this great Flow-Series! Thumbs UP always :)

In the U.S., where we have distinct winters, does it make more sense to use a regular super with the flow hive so as to give them some honey to winter with?

sometimes if you are scanning the frame, your eye will be drawn to her movement. They can hide really well sometimes.

spotted the queen at 23:08 hiding from Cedar and Hilary at the bottom of the frame

Are those hive beetles on the inner cover?

Why buy bees? They exist everywhere, if they don't exist in the wild in your area then it's probably not a good place for bees. So just put out swarm traps(bait hives) at the end of winter around your local area and catch local bees and they will be adapted to your area and will be very productive and resilient.

I’m sorry but for an “expert” on this show, she really doesn’t seem to know what she’s doing.

Any tips for getting my Hive started on flow frames? Added it last year and bees didn't touch it, have it on a new Hive thus year and so far they haven't built in it at all.

I usually mark my queen, some of the colonies do tend on taking the mark off the queen but if you keep her in a cage for 5 mins when you mark her, the mark does stay on. There are a few things by marking a queen that would assist me in my beekeeping. 1) When a colony replaces the queen you will have a queen with no mark. 2) spotting the queen makes it easier also you are more careful with a frame which has the queen. 3) age of the queen.

It is so hard to spot a queen. I opened my hive 2x and could not find the queen. She had a mark but i think she got rid of it. I hope she is still alive.
