Hoya globulosa | 30 Days of Hoya - 18 of 30

Hello and welcome to another episode of #30DaysofHoya! (Should have named it 30 Nights of Hoya). Today we will look at Hoya globulosa. This plant is relatively new and it arrived as a cutting in very poor condition. I am still learning about this plant but in this video, I share with you some of my conclusion so far. I am very interested in hearing what you think the downsides to leca are! I see so many people only showing the benefits of leca, especially with Hoya’s so I am so tempted to convert my Hoyas, can’t wait for that video in the future :)

I have a globulosa cutting that i am keeping in a grow box for the time being. it seems to respond well to the warmth and humidity, but i notice that the leaves on mine are a much lighter green. What lighting do you have yours under? im wondering if i might be giving mine too much.

On an unrelated note, have you considered doing a 30 days of hoya follow up where you go back and revist/review each/some of those 30 hoya?

Hi, thank you for doing this Video. I am in Australia & learning a lot from your videos. I can confirm that Hoya villosa is actually not the same as Globulosa, my Villosa has more of a wavy edge, & the leaf is more pointy whereas the Globulosa is rounder & leaf is straight :)

Again, thank you for this video! You didn’t mention how much light or water you give it. I do have mine on a trellis and it grows ok. I have had some baby leaves fall off, but also had some that continued to grow. It is about to be summer here so it’s hard to provide cooler temps for mine. I really need to group my cooler temp hoyas together and try putting ice in my humidifier to see if that helps.

It’s looks a lot like my Hoya Villosa, but my Villosa has larger leaves, grow fast and grows on a trellis. It also loves being in my greenhouse

I got the Hoya plant in March 12, it had 12 leaves, I feed him 20-20-20 liquid fertilizer, July moved to outside in backyard, summer is hot, 28-32 C degree, it’s growing fast, now it has 26 leaves, I watering every 2 days.

Great videos, I have been learning a lot about hoya's. I hope hoya brevialata is on your video list, because the one that I have hates me and maybe I can learn from you to do it better ^^.

But Lessya's leaves told Villosa is very soft. So it should be different from Globulosa. I like this short indepth description of each hoya.

I grow almost everything I have in the bedroom in semi hydro, you would need comprehensive semi hydro solution rather than fertilizer. Water root is diff than soil root as well, so a regular fertilizer would likely not do a great job, it’s less obvious in a short term also not that obvious on hoya in a short time period. ... I’m not sure what’s available in Europe so I will skip the specific brand recommendation. U need npk micro and blooming solution and maybe some other addictive as u wish.
Do you find villosa being a slow grower compare to other Hoya like caudata you’ve talked about? I have one but it’s really taking it’s sweet time thx!
