I being a female, used to think that all these major mood swings talk are bullshit until it started happening to me. I started crying for 2 to 3 hours without any reason just before my periods and after few months i realised it happens to me every month before I get my periods.

if you want the analogy of PMS it's like your mood when your siblings trouble you when you have missed breakfast and lunch and have not slept the last night. (according to my sister)

I spent 3 days crying and being extremely sad and stressed about certain aspects of my life. I wouldn’t credit PMS for all of it but it definitely made it worse

He nailed it when he said you cannot generalise behaviours and narrow it down to one thing. Imagine if you're in excruciating pain and the people around you expect your to be happy and chirpy and your productive best... same thing. Also, when men have stress and need that space and if any women keep expectations on those men to behave in certain ways, people will say the women are nagging. But if women are dealing with period pain and everything that comes with it and hence not living up to the expectations people have of their behaviours---she's PMSing and every time she's a little annoyed or grumpy, she's 'PMSing'. Maybe stop nagging HER and give HER space.

For me, I don't experience as much mental symptoms as physical ones. I remember getting extreme cramps, so much that I couldn't turn around in my bed, sweating profusely, bp getting extremely low with cold feet. Emotionally I'd get very sentimental at random things lmao but it was so so. I'd been on medications since the past two years but the physical symptoms have only reduced by a bit, sonography gives absolutely no evidence of any deformity. It's just sad that some women out there face so much worse and still can't avail for better medical help. And then here we have society saying "😀why you gotta overreact man"

When my periods are around the corner, I constantly feel like crying. It has often happened with me that I broke down publically. People think that I'm an attention seeker and that I'm shedding crocodile tears which is not the case. That's why, I try to control myself and have less interaction with others bcoz the slightest negative remark could make me cry.

It's different for everyone, in my case...i do not feel periods at all except the bleeding. My days are quite like the normal ones, i also don't avoid workout (gym and running) in periods. On the other hand my sister have bad cramps, and she can barely get off bed for the 1st three days.

Very accurate information. It's not sugarcoated. Yes, for some women it's hormonal for some it's not. The other thing he mentioned is also true regarding the living situation of women. What women living in city maybe completely different than the one living in rural regions or adivasi region.

As a girl i too experience so much pain but rarely. It just so irritating to feel wetness and light cramp around that area and that reflects in my mood. But some girls do face horrible pain during periods. So I feel lucky sometimes.☺️

I literally respect women a lot and i really hats off to them becoz they suffer such things at a regular interval but then too they are much focused for their goals and do hardwork. I appreciate them becoz i dont experience such things then also i can't beat them in consistency and hardwork. I know it is very inappropriate reason but honestly this what i think.

The effects of periods surely varies among women . But all women face a worse phase every month during their periods. The way may be different, but the suffering is real .

The PMS starts from 2 weeks to 10 days before periods and then stays during the period week. That will be 3 weeks out of 4 weeks in a month. So women are totally healthy just 1 week of the month. Also, these symptoms are very extreme sometimes. There are issues like PCOD where the depression is so extreme that you get suicudal. Imagine it just happens bcz of estrogen and progesterone imbalance. There's no actual thing happening out there in the world, juat your hormones that cause you to cry buckets of water. And then you get fine as soon as it gets over. This problem is just so severe, but unfortunately, not enough is talked about it. So forget about people around them, but the women themselves are not aware of what is happening to them, and they blame it on any external stimulous.

Dealing with PMS is funny, scary n frustrating. Personally for me... usually my mood swings starts from 1 week to 10 days before my periods. And I cry for very silly things n I get angry on lill things.. oh my god.. but it's okay we girls are so strong that we can deal with worse!

Well said..the generalization is a problem. We will not know, until we don't talk/discuss enough about it. Talk to whoever you are close/comfortable with, inorder to be better informed, because only then we will understand better, perhaps be more caring, attentive, mindful, empathetic, and resourceful towards our mom/ sister/ girlfriend/wife/ daughter. Being shy or dismissive about it is not gonna help any of the genders. Let's leave a better environment for future generations. Be the change.

My periods are extremely painful. extremely. I can't explain in words. In the first day when it starts bleeding it starts paining. And it continues for 4-5 hours(if I take painkillers) or it will continue to pain for a day. My lower abdomen pains, my groin pains, my feet pains as well. I sometimes throw up. It pains so much that I lose half of my senses. I cry and scream. I feel like I will no more be alive. I can't do any of the activities even I can't lie down because nothing's decreases the intensity of the pain.
It's next to horrible.
