I saw this a few days ago and it gave me the chills. My Mom didn't support my decision to join the Army. Now she couldn't be more proud to have an Infantryman for a son.

Had this happen with my mom, her brother overdosed after battling his addiction for years. He got this addiction from what he saw/did in the Marines. I told my mom I wanted to join the marines and she told me she believes the marines killed her brother in a way. Hearing that as a young adult and still joining was really hard. In the end I caved and enlisted in another branch. if I could do it all over, I would've gone in the Marines and stuck to it. Don't let people guide your decision like I did, do what you want to do, join what you want to join and be who you want to be.

Im 30, currently pushing myself every day so I can enlist asap. Im trying to figure out what im going to tell my family. My wife, my son, my mom, and most importantly my dad who had his boots in Vietnam. After my son was born my entire world view changed. When I saw the videos of the kids in Ukraine my calling kicked in, what if that was my son? my home? I want to be there to defend it, defend them, my family. I just hate that it took me this long to realize where I belong. These videos have me in tears as I struggle with this obstacle in front of me. This ad is so well made, I wish more people would see it.

Every time I think of the Army I think of my grandpa and my uncle. Both served. Grandpa was an MP stationed in Germany and my uncle was in the Army in the late 2000's. I remember driving all the way from Texas to watch the ceremony when I was a little kid. Its almost time for me to do my part and serve. I will be the 4th or 5th generation in a row to serve. My bloodline was made for this.

The Marine corps really needs to adopt this since those are marines and this is hands down my favorite military ad. I ship out to MCRDSD next June and look forward to earning my EGA. Good luck to those that are future service, look forward to serving along side all of you.

That was me up until age 18. I grew up wanting to be in the U.S. military and thought I was going to be a soldier for life. Alas my mother intervened and got me disqualified from the service. I later considered dropping out of college to join the French Foreign Legion, but my friend talked me out of it. In retrospect, I probably should have.
