Fabio Fognini works out with his doubles partner Simone Bolelli. This is a great defending drill his coach has them doing.

defending drill is so important! No wonder he is so good ^__^. Makes it look easy, but hell it ain't XD

I might want to try this drill. It looks pretty simple though. What are the benefits of it?

I would call this an attacking drill working on hitting the ball on the rise. The defender is just giving the attacker shots to hit. A true defending drill would emphasize deeper shots hit away from the attacker. The defender's goal here is to give the hitter as many shots to practice as possible taking the ball on the rise. If the defender does his job the attacker will work on his consistency in attacking the ball. The defender of course does get some hitting in as well

I wish I could hear what the coach is saying when he’s talking to Fognini.

Fognini is certainly talented but he has one thing that prevents him from becoming the Top: his enough! He plays ATP tournaments with the Sunday match where everyone knows him because every he does so much genius blows for the public !! But having this type of approach in big tournaments then in ATP matches then he loses out !!! This without getting where it can go but must change! This is what all the tennis greats have done ... and he will have to do it to be in the top 3 in the world !!!
