The idea of "international investors" buying houses is not a solution to the housing bubble. It will only make it more difficult for normal people to find a decent house (and then look for a partner, have kids, and start thinking on their retirement... you know, the supposedly "responsible" way to live). Houses are for people to live in, not "assets" to speculate with.

Individual person: "I took a risk with my small business and took a loss."
Government: "Well, that's how business work. Welcome to capitalism, you win some, you lose some. Better luck next time buckaroo."
Bank: "After years of exhorbitating profits, I took a small loss on my massive business."
Government: "Oh no! This cannot be! Please let us help you! Please, I implore, take all this money, please!"
Bank: "Fine, if you insist."

Banks: "We've removed the safeguards from our system."
Also Banks: "We're in danger of too much debt! Why are there no safeguards?"

To be honest a correction of house prices has been desperately needed for at least 20 years. The UK has been living in a housing bubble, with rising interest rates there's no way the current house prices in the market can be maintained at current level and will definitely drop.

Britain has been in a housing crisis for over 30 years

The housing crisis that we are facing is that houses have been overpriced for years!
They need to drop by at least half to bring some sanity back to life for us all.

Whether you are paying rent, buying a home or a landlord buying to let, they are in a bubble again.

Everyday: "Is Britain is facing a [insert literally anything] crisis?"
Yes.

The problem with the current housing market is it’s become a source for rapid speculative gains, just like stocks. And it never should have been allowed to go that way.

I'm blown away that you don't have a fixed rate for the entire mortgage in the UK.

I'm worried that with the pound down, people will buy up more homes in UK from overseas. The same happened in Canada and it's destabilising the country.

I'm so stoked for this housing crash! Needs to come down at least 50%

YES WE ARE! As a disabled person, if I don't find EIGHT THOUSAND POUNDS in advance, I can't rent a £675pm 1 bed flat. I am daily depressed over being 'undesirable' and left to be homeless before surgeries because my money isn't good enough, even though I am on PIP and DLA. Lord give me strength, my shoulders dislocate daily and there's nowhere for me to go.

Britain is in a housing crisis since the late 18th century. It's a feature, not a bug.

Thatcher let people buy the council houses that they were living in, then she stopped the councils from building new council housing. So the tories made worse the housing shortage.

Britain's had a housing market problem for ages. 6 months ago it was about the fact you can't buy a house in this country because of lack of supply and over-demand. This is absolutely no different

Holy crap, the sponsor segment is literally 20% of this entire 8 and half minute video.

Crap like that is why Sponsorblock was invented. (And yes, I'm the one that flagged the segments)
