Meaty… the best advice I can give you is pick up that extra hatchet and knife and everything you can in that region. And simply stash it in 1 place in each region. This way if you live to day 1000 lets say, if you need something (and you will) you know that you have a possible back up also if you coordinate rock stashes at entry points to different regions, for example Blackrock, I keep all my low% tools there, when I’m ready it’s basically one shot to the milling machine to repair them. Then you’re all set for the next couple months. Whetstones are not that prevalent so use them sparingly. This is my advice but it works for me, it works and saves time and I don’t have to try and remember where I saw a certain item, I know which FOB to hit.

The crampons add like 1 second to your time before the thin ice breaks. So you get just a bit of extra time to cross but definitely NOT a free pass.
