I think the problem is you are not understanding Liquidity correctly. You make the Range as narrow as possible to maximize fee collection. As the price goes up you lose mm and gain usdc and opposite the other way. When it falls out of the narrow price range you withdraw the usdc or the MM which is less the value if you just bought or sold at the top. His profits are coming purely from the fees. The more volume the better.
