Fourth Grade Curriculum Picks || Homeschool 2022-2023

My second son will be starting his fourth grade school year soon! I'm going to be transitioning him into slightly more self-led studies as he's really been maturing lately. So we're making a few curriculum changes but also sticking with some tried and true favorites!

So this popped up on my feed and man was it timely!!!
I was thinking about jumping on the morning menu bandwagon, we're using Claritas right now and I LOVE it, but it's a lot combined with different histories and sciences, etc.

I also realize this was 6 mos ago and I hope it's going well! Lol

I absolutely LOVED your video. You seem so down to earth. I too have a rising 4th grader and I'm looking at everything as it is overwhelming. We always want to pick the best things for our kids! How long does Sonlight Bible/History/Literature take? We haven't really dived into history yet. (It's not my strong point). Do you like it and if so is it a lot to work through? I want to incorporate as many subjects as possible but I don't want it to be overwhelming for us. Thanks for your input!!

I only have experience with the morning menu but I was so impressed what my kiddo was able to memorize and how great it was with the hymn study!

I love seeing my kids grow in character!!! It does feel different when they get into upper levels!!! We love to keep what’s working!!! We love skip counting!!!

I do morning menus and just pull all of our memory work from our Bible, English, Spanish and whatever else. I print out pages myself. We like that instead of doing something separate. 👍🏻

We are trying CC materials, but not in a community. There is an Etsy shop that has coloring pages for each week.

Don’t forget about Pam Barnhills morning basket selections she has available. Cross Seven has a timeline song and hand motions which is awesome. I honestly would do the free day trial of cross seven to check it out because they have skip counting! My kids like all the options for the timelines and it has more Bible pegs in the timeline vs CC as far as I know. I really think you’d like it.

Have you checked out the memory work/recitation lesson plans from Memoria Press? They are bite sized memory work specific to each child’s grade level. My kids have really enjoyed them. Lol just in case you need a third option. 😆
