Although a joke, it does still sadden me how many elderly people feel like they have no option but to find reasons to call emergency services in order to escape loneliness. I wish there was a specific service or helpline for this kind of thing.

I love how he says: Mmmmm S is here". Once I had to call for help because I was feeling really bad depression. Now I know about a mental health number you can call if you are having a really bad episode.

My patient used to cal 911 to reach the peanut butter on the 2nd shelf... She wouldn't move it to the lower shelf because it doesn't belong there DUH.... I started making her PB and Js.... She stopped calling 911. A bunch of guys were pounding on the door like SWAT... It was EMS. They were in the area & worried about her.... I told them very proudly that i made sandwiches so they didn't have to... I think they were a little pissed. They did a well check on the weekend when I wasn't there. I got extra groceries and cooked during the week. She got company... They made sure she was ok. All of us went to her funeral or viewing.

Fun fact, here in Chile firefighters are volunteers, meaning: they don't get paid, at all, and the equipment? Well they hold raffles to get enough money to replace broken stuff
