I once ask a old Paratrooper how many times he had jumped out of a plane, he said he had never jumped but he has been pushed out a 100 times.

Knew the family of a Air Force PJ. Lots of jumps under all conditions, became a jump instructor. Said he hated every jump. But it was part of the job, so he did it. So much respect for those guys. They did things you can’t believe are possible to save the lives of other service members. God bless them.

Have not had my knees in the breeze since 2003. My last jump was out of a Blackhawk. Watching these videos still makes my heart race.

My grandfather was a paratrooper and WWII and Korea. They didn't know WTF they're jumping into. He was the First on his way out and the jumpmaster grabbed him at the last second saved his life after a wind adjustment. Tough mofo

I hate the equipment check when jumping a Blackhawk lmao. Leaning over a flying helicopter with no safety strap will make your balls climb to your throat

Edit: For the people that are replying that the jump master is tethered in at a constant rate: you are correct .. however

When jumping out of a Blackhawk, the helicopter transports you an 6 PAX with the assistance of a ratchet strap so that soldiers don’t fall out. When the blackhawk stops, the jump master takes off that ratchet strap, while still being tethered in, in order for soldiers to conduct a safety check. It is at this point that soldiers lean forward, while having their parachute on their back, staring at the ground. It is also at this point where your testicles, AKA balls, will jump to your throat.

Just wanted to make this extremely clear for the tough guys going “he’s tethered in what’s the problem”. I’m not speaking on the jump master. Im talking about the safety check. That is all. Thank you all for supporting this comment. To my brothers that can’t read: do better.

My last Jump was in 1994 with the 1st of the 504 PIR, 82nd Airborne. I underestimated how much I would miss the crazy shit we did, and the close friendships made. It was hell, but amazing. feels like it was yesterday. God Bless these men who serve today, shit is getting real right now!

My partner served in the Royal Marines. He was in the parachute regiment amongst other things. He died from cancer last year at aged 61. He had the mannerisms still of being in the forces, a gentleman. My hero who faced cancer as if he was on a mission.

I watched the TV Show Band of Brothers and I have always loved the 101st Airborne Division, the “Screaming Eagles” and thought that being a paratrooper is such a dangerous job to do so kudos to them.

Thank God, there are some of us who still want to be real men and protect our country. I fear for the future. I miss my service every day.
