This is dancing on the minefield. Leslie should stay away from Edison not because he’s bad but just because she always will have more emotions for him than a friend. People who friend their exes fell out of love with them but kept the care and respect. You don’t always fall off love. You can break up and still love them more than a friend. Break ups start with someone not wanting to be in it. Leslie expected to marry. Regardless of their differences, she was willing to go for it which means .. she didn’t see them as a breaking factor. I felt the same. My ex fiancé had different opinion though and eventually he got cold feet and we had to cancel our wedding! I agreed with him on that too but that doesn’t mean I felt the same. A wedding shouldn’t go on when someone isn’t feeling it. It wasn’t because we faught or anything. Ironically, we never faught much .. we discussed things and had our disagreements. he was one of my favorite people in this world. He taught me that I don’t need to fight to be heard in a relationship. That we can disagree and love each other (or not? Because at the end .. he wanted out because we wanted different small things). We tried to be friends; after all, he was my best friend before becoming my fiancé. It didn’t work. It messed me up. He always treated me nicely and because he knew me well .. he made gestures that didn’t help me move on. He’ll do small stuff that would be ok if we never been together because it means he care but because I love/loved him it was confusing and at times painful. It never worked .. almost 3 years later, I had enough. I didn’t fully heal nor moved on so I asked him to give me space and to not contact me. He was hurt .. he acted as if it was ok but it was hard especially because it was easier for him and at that time, he met and started to date someone else who looked a lot like me but didn’t act like me. Our mutual friends kept talking about that too which was torture. Also, eventually mutual friends pick sides .. sadly. It sucked but it’s ok. He wasn’t that much into me or he wouldn’t see those differences as breaking points. I didn’t think they are. I thought we can still go on while disagreeing on small stuff .. it was more of what’s after the disagreements. Apparently, who I am didn’t set well with him
