Beginning my CCA program through AHIMA (taking Medical Terminology and Anatomy and Physiology first).
Thank you for the helpful info!! I’m planning to work in the field for a year or two before studying for my CCS certification. This helped me stay focused and not feel I need to rush for that CCS title.
Thank you both so much.

CCS was first created as a subcategory to AHIMA's RHIA and RHIT. That is why there is more compliance and privacy on the exam. RHIA and RHIT both requires college degrees.

I know this is an old video but I have a question. I'm about to sit for my CPC exam soon, and there's this job posting that I was looking at. It's a hospital that requires the CCS upon hire and the CPC within a year and a half of hiring. But also, they want people with 2 years or less experience, so entry level, which is what I am. So what they're looking for is someone with not a lot of experience but they also want them to have CCS? I'm very confused!

Hi. Thank you for your video and advice. Can anyone tell me what would be a good choice to work from home/remotely, AHIMA CCA or AAPC CPC? I am homebound/restricted. Are there homebased openings and opportunities immediately after getting certified? Anyone please let me know, I would be grateful. I was a doctor physician many years ago in Asia and now live in California for over 10 years now by the way so any advice related to location would also be helpful. I could not pursue medical residency and missed that opportunity because I'm a very old graduate and I am pretty sure no residency program will accept me. I am middle aged and have long gaps in employment as well as various changing jobs.
