Reaction of Magnesium ribbon with acetic acid and HCL

HCL is the strong acid so react vigorously with magnesium ribbon and produce large amount of hydrogen gas with a fizz sound where as acetic acid is a weak acid it dissociate partially that is it is not dissociate completely so when magnesium ribbon is added into acetic acid it react less violently in comparison to the dilute hydrochloric acid so we can say acetic acid reacts with magnesium to produce hydrogen gas but the amount of hydrogen gas is less than that obtained in case of reaction of magnesium ribbon with HCl.

Good Madam, if in India when we publish digital text books, your work can be used superbly.Even now schools adopt

Acetic acid is a weak acid so its reaction forming magnesium acetate with liberation of H2 gas is low, where as HCl is a strong acid and reaction is fast with evolution of H2 gas, it may be much faster in H2SO4 which is a much stronger acid than HCI🎉😊

In hydrochloride acid more gas is evolved as compared to acetic acid 🙃

Mg with HCl evolved more gas as compare to acetic acid because HCl is strong acid and acetic acid is weak acid

Mgcl2 and hydrogen is evolving, more gas is in hcl of course

In Hcl because it is a strong acid and gives out more hydrogen gas
