Today, we find out how much stuff you can actually fit into the trunk of the 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback. The last time the Honda Civic Hatchback was offered in the U.S. was back in 2005. Now, for 2017, Honda has completely reinvented the depiction of the "Ultimate Hatchback". For this generation, Honda decided to go for a much more aggressive and visually appealing vehicle design; that definitely stands out in the somewhat vanilla and conservatively styled hatches currently in its class. Honda believes the Honda Civic Hatchback is ready to show all of the other compact hatches in its class whose boss. So, let’s see if Honda’s comeback with the long-awaited, all-new 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback was worth the while.

The Civic Hatchback has one of the largest trunks in its class, so does all of this extra space translate to usable trunk space? There is only one way to find out.... By watching this "How Much Stuff Can You Fit In That Trunk?" Episode.

why not measuring the length and width of the cargo in inches/meters? That'd be a lot more telling than baskets...

I had to go to a dealership and measure it myself. Obviously no one could be bothered enough to get out a simple measuring tape and do this on a lot. It's only important I guess if you're serious about actually using the cargo area to haul things that have specific dimensions. (Like bikes that are not standard sizes).

I need to know the dimensions in inches for the cargo space with the seats down. I need to know the width of the hatch opening and the total length in inches with the seats down. Thanks.

Excellent review of the trunk space!
The elevation behind the seats is something no one mentions, and an issue you "wish someone had told me!" after you have already bought the car.

Can a bicycle fit inside? Can you attach any sort of bicycle rack to the rear with all the spoilers n the way?

Can the drivers seat be all the way pushed back and still fold down the rear seats? I'm a tall guy and have some long gear from scuba to hunting.

How about the front passenger seat down, can it fit an 8 ft. 2x4?
