I never realized that there was technique and the power of observation and strategy in cutting wood. I thought it was all brawn. Thank you.

Great video! 😃. Thank you so much. I have a 15 year old son and being a single Divorced mother it has been hard for me to teach him the ways of keeping himself busy to grow healthy and strong minded but with YouTube videos like this it has helped him fill the gaps that he was missing from a good male roll model. I’m happy to say that he has been busy learning from these kind of videos and others and it Has brought calmness to his spirit. Young men like him need skills like this to understand their strength and other ways to release stress. I pray that men like yourself continue to make videos like this to help us single mothers like myself to help our sons. A lot of men in our society have left the responsibility to us mothers but with Gods love a mother never gives up when she has the good Lord in her heart. Again many thanks and God Bless you and all who support your Chanel

Started splitting wood in the 60s, went from an axe to a sledge and a wedge then a monster maul, next a 8lb splitting maul. Now I have a splitting axe with wedges built into it and a hydraulic splitter. I just enjoy being in the game. Anyone willing to work making firewood is number 1 in my book.

Just wanted to say thank you for this vid. I'm looking after my parents house why they're away and I wanted a little crackling kindling wood to keep me company. Was able to learn how to chop up some of their wood to a few pieces to help me tonight thanks to you.

Thank you! This was super helpful. I am starting at ZERO knowledge. I have never split wood or watched someone split wood, but we have a very tree dense yard now and my husband likes to smoke meat, so we are trying to learn to split the wood that we have all in our neighborhood from tree trimmings and tree removal. Lots of beautiful oak wood.

This may have honestly been one of the most useful youtube videos that I've ever watched! Thank you!

You make it look so easy. I’ve been struggling with splitting white oak with my splitting maul, it’s so hard and won’t budge.

I couldn't express how much I appreciate this video. The info has enabled me to have heat through out the night. I have an endless supply of fire wood only it is in big huge chunks that I've been approaching all wrong. Thank you so much👍👍

anything heavy and pointy will pretty much do it...love this video...thank you. I just had a cord of wood dropped at my cabin and it's too thick to fit my tiny wood stove. I am exactly who you made this video for...a girl in the woods, with a  load of wood that needs to be split.

Just purchased a home in the woods on a private wooded lot and we love it so much. Now we have a really grand wood burning fireplace and wanna try our hand at cutting our own wood to burn instead of using electric heat so much . Thanks for your video I’m a newbie at this whole thing lol

Great Video - thank you from England. I love that you emphasized: reading the log for knots, a blunt axe or maul is a good thing, and the need to develop accuracy of the hit.

Thank you. I had no clue, and now I have a good clue.

Get a couple tires and lay them on the ground with a HARD surface under them. Put the round of wood inside, then split it into pieces while INSIDE THE TIRE. That way, you aren't chasing and repositioning the wood all the time!
