Didn't know this until my boyfriend pointed it out, waaay after I saw this as a kid. It's so easy to miss unless you're paying attention, and it's one of the best jokes in the movie. The movie itself had a great message too. I adore LAIKA studios, they put out such amazing material!

Funny thing is, paranorman was aired in dub in my country, and the term "boy/girlfriend" in my language are only define with a word that is gender neutral so I was oblivious to the fact that Mitch is gay 😂

I love how they characterized Mitch. He’s a typical jock, you wouldn’t think he’s gay unless you’ve seen the movie before. They didn’t make him have anything internalized and they didn’t make him a gay stereotype. He’s just a guy that loves what he loves and who he loves.

What i love about it is that he is a character that treats being gay as a sort of liking instead of his whole personality, like imagine if some dude whole personality was liking blondes or short asian girls, it a liking and it too obnoxious/ridiculous to be a personality and it why people usually don't like gay characters in movies hell even gay people have a sort of dislikeness to overly gay characters that make it their whole personality
