A great Canadian original by PEI's own Gene "Snowbird" MacLellan. A group called Ocean had the (huge) hit, but it wasn't the best version. Anne Murray did it first and should have had the (huge) hit, but Capitol dropped the ball. This one is new to me, but it's so classy! England's Anne just might have been the best Brit songstress ever. Greatest alto I've ever heard other than Canada's Anne. Lovely!

I've taken to some of the musical guests of "TBHS" . . . the 1987 US syndicated package snuck in Los Zafiros' Oct. 28, 1970 performance of "Maria Isabel, " and also included The Cotton Mill Boys' rendition of "Orange Blossom Special." May've had to do with me growing up in a home with a good deal of country, folk and ethnic music.
