Joseph & Joseph: Over 100 Years of Landmark Architecture

Founded in 1908 by Alfred and Oscar Joseph, this firm has continually produced iconic architecture in Louisville and other parts of Kentucky and the surrounding region. From historic buildings such as the Rialto, National, and Broadway theaters and high-rise residential like the Commodore and Dartmouth, to more current projects like Angel's Envy Distillery and the Dream Hotel, Joseph and Joseph are synonymous with distinctive Louisville architecture. This presentation will review the past, present, and future of this legendary architectural firm.

Steve Wiser, FAIA, is an architect, historian, and author. He has written over 10 books on Louisville architecture and history and is President of the Louisville Historical League. Steve is a Fellow with the American Institute of Architects. He has given previous Filson talks on architects John Bacon Hutchings, Jasper Ward, and William Dodd.
