As a person who has been struggling with the concentration during reading, i must say that Mark's advice actually helped me haha. Everytime when I want to look away, I hear Mark's voice saying DON'T LOOK AWAY! STAY WITH IT. God I love this show, best ever :)

It was only recently I realized Mr Nice is a biography and not part of the Mr Men series.

This episode was so fucking hilarious, especially the line Jez delivers when he has to talk about the book with the book group, and he says something around the lines of "its your pen, so you have to castrate yourself" I cant exactly remember it but it was hilarious.

tbf to him. Wuthering heights is written into multiple narratives, can be quite complex and I myself had to listen to half of it on Audiobook. Now, in this case the different narratives work. but a lot of victorian books of the time did epistolary formats which didn't in my honest opinion always work for the story they were telling. There were a few times where I could tell they did it JUST because it was a popular narrative device. not because it worked for their novel.

Haha, I remember being a bit like this but, to be fair, I was 18/19 and learning to read for pleasure for the first time. I believed it could be done but hadn't yet experienced it and it took some effort and focus! One of life's great pleasures.

I had this problem with academic text books at uni as they were often turgid. A junior lecturer gave me a great piece of advice - just read the first and last sentence of every paragraph, because most of what’s in between is fluff. Gets you through.
