Canon Err 01 - How to fix faulty lens communication 📷

If your Canon camera is blinking Err 01 on its display, this video will tell you what might be happening & how to fix it.

If you are still having a problem make sure to isolate it to the camera or the lens by testing different lenses on the camera and different bodies on the lens.

I also suggest go into your cameras setting and do a sensor clean . When I made sure the battery was charge, followed suggestion I looked in the menu and did a sensor clean since I noticed it was doing it automatically. This -worked !

Error 01 is not caused by dirt on the contacts. The error is caused due a problem with the lens diaphragm (usually only occurs on zoom lenses) NEVER use cleaning fluid on the communication contacts on the camera body! NEVER !!

What worked for me was to avoid the narrowest zoom setting on my 11-16mm lens (16mm) — it wasn’t this fix, cleaning the lens contacts, or several other fixes on other YouTube’s — just in case that helps anyone else who hasn’t had success with these tips (which truly HAVE helped a lot of people, so thankyou btw)

I had this issue earlier on the 24-105 lens and had to take it to Canon for servicing and it cost me $150. I got this same error today at a professional shoot on the 24-70 f2.8 II, and was shocked that this error turned up in the middle of a shoot without reason. I was worried about another trip to Canon. But on watching this video I decided to try cleaning it with a cloth, and voila, it worked. At least for now. Have another shoot tomorrow, lets see.
